ArcheAge’s Winter Update Brings Back Battle Of Mistmerrow And Adds A New Raid Boss

Amid concerns that ArcheAge is dead and now in maintenance mode, it’s sprung back to life with its first major update and in-game event since the shuttering of ArcheAge: Unchained and the subsequent mass server merge at the end of November.

The fantasy sandbox MMORPG’s December update is now live, featuring the return of its Battle of Mistmerrow faction war event. The event pits players against each other in a three-way war between opposing factions and pirates for various in-game rewards. It’s not exactly what you’d expect from a winter update, but you’ll technically be fighting for presents, so it still kind of tracks.

“Get ready to storm this classic PvP instance as Nuia and Haranya factions compete to destroy Mistmerrow’s Bloodspires, while a third team of Pirates attempts to rebuild them,” Kakao Games announced. Participating in the PvP battle will earn you Mistmerrow Warrior Tokens, Honor Points, and Improved Infusion Supply Kits.

Not to be left out, PvE players will also get to take on a new raid boss called the Roaring Astor that will have a chance to appear upon defeating world bosses. World boss spawn mechanics for both the Nuia and Haranya conflict zones have also been adjusted.

The December update also increased the max damage cap, made Erenor Equipment easier to obtain, and added a new tradeable upgrade material called Unstable Erenor Infusions that drop from certain raid bosses and can be used to enhance Erenor Equipment.

Players also get to enjoy “a wealth of game-wide improvements,” the details of which can be found on the ArcheAge official site. Kakao Games marked the update’s release with its first ArcheAge trailer in nearly a year. You can check that out below.
