According to SmileGate, the game's South Korean developer, CrossFire gets over 8 million concurrent players and has over 650 million ed s world-wide. To add some context to that 8 million figure, ALL of Steam has about 3 million players in-game at the time of this post going up. Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, the biggest game on Steam, peaks at about 2.3M concurrent s.
CFS 2017 is an annual eSports tournament for CrossFire that has 12 teams coming from regional qualifiers to complete on a national stage in China. The game's prize pool is also significantly higher this year and sits at $1,050,000 making it one of the biggest eSports in the world. While I doubt many of us here in the West watch competitive CrossFire, the game is unbelievably popular in China. Last year's CFS Grand Finals drew a viewership of 25 million.
