DC Universe Online Expands Light and Rain Saga with ‘Fearful Day’ Update, Live Now

DC Universe Online has launched Light and Rain: Fearful Day, the second chapter of its ongoing Lantern Corps storyline. The new update is free to all players and introduces open-world content, new instances, event rewards, artifact slots, and key balance changes. The story unfolds on Mogo, the living planet, where players must help repel an invasion by rogue Yellow Lanterns, Qwardians, and Amon Sur.

The update is part of the broader Light and Rain arc, continuing DCUO’s tradition of multi-part narratives tied to iconic DC characters and settings. This chapter also kicks off the four-week Fearful Day Event, with content and rewards available through June 24.

Key content in Fearful Day:

• Open World Zone – Planet Mogo:
  • Level 20+ players can explore the surface and core of Mogo, assisting Luzia Cavalera in finding her missing sister
  • Features story missions followed by daily and weekly quests with repeatable rewards
• New Instances:
  • Defending Mogo (8-player raid): Hal Jordan to push back a full-scale invasion in Mogo’s caverns
  • Protecting Mogo (4-player alert): Condensed version of the raid with Qwardian combat and Amon Sur as a key boss
  • Hidden Lantern Village (solo): Search for missing Blue Lantern students in a corrupted valley with help from Carol Ferris and Luzia Cavalera
• New Gear and Systems:
  • Currency: Mogo Berries
  • Gear themed after Qwardians and Indigo Lanterns
  • New augments (Source Conduits), exobytes, and catalysts
  • New collectibles and feat achievements

Flashback Instances Return Temporarily:

• Strike Team (4-player alert) and Assault and Battery (8-player raid) reappear as limited-time flashback versions
• Available through the current episode but only flashback versions grant Fearful Day currency

Event Rewards (Until July 23 Buyout Deadline):

• Elite Henchmen Uplink Device: Oan Tactical Assault summons two Green Lanterns and a Blue Lantern with team-wide buffs
• 60 Mogo Berries, Ultimate Tactical Mod Capsules, and other exclusive rewards

Major System Updates:

• Five Artifact Slots Now Available:
  • Players can now equip two additional artifacts, expanding loadout options
  • To prevent stat stacking, percentage-based stats are now capped at 15% per attribute
  • Artifact swapping during combat is disabled to maintain balance
• New Artifact – Sinestro’s Corrupted Lantern Ring:
  • Controller Role: Summons Avatar of Fear to weaken enemies
  • Damage Role: Summons Avatar of Will for explosive offense
