EVE Online’s Havoc Expansion Will Finally Allow Players To Side With Pirates

With EVE Fanfest 2023 now in full swing, there’s a whole host of EVE Online announcements in the wind, including the space sci-fi MMO’s next expansion: Havoc. The expansion is scheduled for release on November 14th and will build on the recently revamped faction warfare system by allowing players to side with the Angel Cartel and Guristas pirate factions.

Yes, you read that right. After 20 years, players will finally be able to a pirate faction, and, as the expansion’s title suggests, wreak havoc in New Eden. Players who ally themselves with the pirate factions will be rewarded with a new in-game currency and will gain access to new faction-exclusive stores. Those who’d rather not turn to a life of piracy to protect the empires instead will likewise be rewarded for their efforts.

“It’s exactly what it sounds like,” said Creative Director Bergur Finnbogason. “It’s the war between the four core factions of Eve and it’s basically a tug of war.” To assist them in the inter-galactic tug of war, pirates will be able to establish forward operating bases on the frontlines that should serve as hotbeds for fighting in the never-ending struggle to gain unrivalled control of New Eden.

Havoc will also introduce the new system of Zarzakh, new battlecruisers and destroyers for each faction, the long-awaited Angel Titan, and the new EVE Vanguard first-person shooter module. You can check out the official expansion trailer below.
