C Games Shuts Down EVE Online Companion App After Two Years Of Neglect
C Games is ending for EVE Portal, an EVE Online mobile companion app that allowed players to monitor and update their skill queues and trade PLEX even while on the go. Unfortunately, the team had failed to maintain the app and neglected it for the past two years, leading to various issues and its eventual closure last week.
“When problems arose, we deployed fixes which proved to be only temporary as new issues manifested,” C Games acknowledged. “After a thorough technical review, we have concluded that the EVE Portal app does not have a robust enough foundation for its ongoing maintenance or further development.”
The app has since been pulled from both Google Play and the App Store and the EVE Portal website has been updated with a message notifying visitors of its closure. Players looking for alternative ways to manage their affairs in New Eden without actually logging-in can check out Neocom II for mobile and EVEMon for PC.
Meanwhile, C Games is preparing to kick off testing for its EVE Online spinoffs. Testing for the EVE Vanguard first-person shooter module on December 7th. Hopefully, both project will fare better than the now-defunct companion app.
