Former BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson Founds Humanoid Studios

In December 2020, much to the surprise of the gaming community, BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson left his position after 20 years working with the Canadian video game development company. Hudson didn’t give a specific reason for his departure other than that it was “a good time for a change, for both myself and BioWare.”

Hudson is best known for his work on several big-name games during his time at BioWare, including the Mass Effect trilogy, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and more recently, EA’s cancelled shooter Anthem. It seems that Hudson and several other developers have been cooking up something behind the scenes since then as he officially announces a new indie development studio, Humanoid Studios.

“Today we are announcing a new independent videogame company built to unleash the creative freedom of developers - bringing innovation and artistry to players through an all-new IP,” tweeted Hudson. “We are Humanoid Studios. This is the first tiny step in our journey, and we hope you'll come along with us on the adventure.”

The studio is currently hiring for several key positions, including Director of Operations, Senior Gameplay Programmer, Senior Gameplay Designer, Senior Creative Director, Senior Level Designer, an Environment Artist, and a 3D Artist.
