Fractured Launches $116K Kickstarter Campaign
Fractured. The Milan-based indie game studio hopes to raise $116,651 to fund the game’s development. Considering that the game already has over 30,000 pre-registrations, that goal might not be too far off. As of this writing, the month-long campaign has already raised $31,777 in pledges. Not bad for the first day.
“Fractured is the first open-world sandbox MMORPG mixing action combat with fully interactable environments, appealing equally to lovers of competitive and cooperative gameplay. Jump right into the fray from day one.
Defeat your enemies through your own skill and cleverness, not equipment or level. Gather resources, craft, trade and venture into legendary travels as a solitary hero, or start a settlement with your guild and grow it into the next empire.”
According to the Fractured Kickstarter page, the sandbox MMORPG will feature three races, each with different gameplay and social mechanics and not just different questlines. Fractured will also boasts grindless horizontal progression, knowledge and talent systems, and classes that can be switched in just a few minutes.
The Kickstarter page itself doesn’t go into detail on PvP, but the devs released a dev blog back in March that explains how PvP will work in the game, or at least how they expect it to work. Of course ganking and griefing are problems that always come up when PvP is involved. Dynamight plans to keep players in check with a karma and alignment system. “Good” can’t PK other “Good” players but players who opt to flag themselves as Neutral or have automatically been flagged as Evil can do so at the cost of losing Karma. The Arboreus planet, a.k.a. the PvE Planet, will also function as a safe zone but will only be accessible to players with “Good” alignment. On the other hand, players looking to get down and dirty can travel to the full PvP planet of Tartaros.
According to the studio, the future of Fractured is safe even if they don’t reach their Kickstarter goals but reaching their funding goals can add a lot to the project. “Dynamight Studios is a financially stable company. Careful business planning, coupled with backing from the three founders and private investors, make us feel safe about the future of the project,” says the devs. The studio is also in communication with game publishers who have shown interest in the project.
