Hearthstone Celebrates Its 10th Birthday With Year-Long Freebies Including A WoW Mount
Hearthstone is turning ten years old next month and Blizzard is marking the milestone with Year of the Pegasus, a year-long celebration that begins on March 11. Over the next 12 months, players can look forward to a plethora of freebies, in-game events, new game modes, and new cards courtesy of three expansions for the free-to-play card battler.
“It all starts soon with birthday giveaways, in-game events, a spicy Core Set update, and the first of three lively card set expansions,” Blizzard announced. “Then, just a little further down the line, we’ll be launching Battlegrounds Duos. Alongside our regular Standard and Battlegrounds updates, the team is working on fascinating Twist formats and Arena updates for even more fun all year long!”
You can already get your hands on the first of the anniversary freebies – 12 “extra special” cards plus an expansion preview card – by simply logging into the game from now until Patch 29.6 comes out. The developers will also be throwing in an exclusive World of Warcraft mount as part of a crossover event that kicks off on March 11.
“The party has spilled out of our Tavern and all of Azeroth is ing the celebration,” says the devs. “Starting on March 11, to Hearthstone to get a new Fiery Hearthsteed World of Warcraft mount for free! Also, from March 11 to March 18, you can seek out special Hearthstone matches in capital cities. Stick around long enough and you’ll face a special encounter where you can defeat iconic minions to add to your deck and earn other fun new Hearthstone-themed rewards!”
More information is promised in the lead up the year-long anniversary event.
