League Of Legends Outlines Game-Changing Updates Coming To The Summoner’s Rift Map

Riot Games, however, has apparently felt that it’s time to shake things up a bit and will be making significant changes to both the map and game mode when Season 14 comes around early next year.

Some of the more noteworthy changes include terrain and layout adjustments to the top and bottom lanes with the goal of making movement through the lanes more equal for both teams. By extension, the changes will also affect combat and strategies within those lanes.

The river brush on both sides of the mid-lane will also be moved further back to make it harder for enemies to ambush mid-laners. With the ambush-prone brushes farther away, it should give slower champions a fighting chance in the mid lane.

The Baron will also be getting a makeover and new types – Hunting, Territorial, and All-Seeing – which will randomly spawn every 20 minutes. Each type will feature its own unique pit and abilities that will require players to come up with brand new strategies to defeat him. Three buff-granting Voidgrubs will also spawn in the Baron pit twice before the 14-minute mark. Kill at least five of the six possible spawns and you’ll gain the ability to summon voidmites that will help you and your team whittle down towers and structures.

The voidmites will disappear at the 14 minute mark to be replaced by the Rift Herald who’ll also be getting a void-inspired makeover. Players will also be able to mount the Rift Herald and control him, which should add a whole new dimension to Summoner’s Rift matches.

Other smaller changes will include the removal of mythic items, adjustments to each of the different Drakes, and the addition of new music.

Season 14 is set to begin on January 5th, which gives you a little over a month to enjoy Summoner’s Rift as it is before the changes come into effect. You can read up on Season 14 and the changes on the League of Legends official site.
