MapleStory’s "The Dark Ride Part 2" Update Goes Live With New Boss

The 2D sidescrolling MMORPG MapleStory introduces its latest content update, "The Dark Ride: Limbo," expanding the game's challenges and customization options with a powerful new boss, improved progression systems, and seasonal events.

Aside from events tied to the launch of Dark Ride part 2, the popular hyper burning event returns. Hyper burning grants players 2 bonus levels per level up up until level 260. New and existing characters are eligible, so long as they are below level 258.

Core Update Features

New Boss: Limbo

• Entry Requirements: Level 285+ and completion of '[Carcion] A Letter from Across the Continent' quest.
• Players will battle Limbo in Normal or Hard mode, with 30 minutes to complete the fight in groups of up to three players. Rewards include:
  • Whisper of the Source: A Level 250 ring with powerful stat boosts.
  • Eternal Equipment: Obtain new capes, gloves, and shoes featuring enhanced set bonuses for advanced gameplay strategies.
  • Limbo Souls: Unique abilities tied to the boss for further customization.

Epic Dungeon: Angler Company

• Available: January 16, 2025.
• Requirements: Level 270+ and completion of critical Odium quests.
• Explore an eight-stage dungeon with boss encounters and puzzles. Complete the challenge within the one-hour limit to earn:
  • Sol Erda Fragments: Crafting components for advanced equipment.
  • Dense Sol Erda Energy: A key material for endgame upgrades.
  • Bonus EXP Rewards: Boost progression significantly.

Enhanced Customization: HEXA Stat Node II

• Unlock Requirements: Level 265+ and HEXA Stat Node I at Level 20.
• Players gain new opportunities for stat optimization with additional customization layers.

Seasonal Content: Dark Maplemas Events

From December 17 to January 14, MapleStory celebrates a winter-themed event series with exclusive rewards and mini-games.

Event Highlights

• Wicked Wonderland: daily to unlock rewards, including Nodestones, experience bonuses, and exclusive holiday items.
• Slay Ride Mini-Game: Navigate icy obstacles to collect items, earn EXP vouchers, and claim festive cosmetics such as the Dark Maplemas Sleigh Chair.
• Home Decorations: Customize and upgrade your in-game house with seasonal furnishings and interactive items, including a special three-story Maplemas Hut.
