The Gremlins Have Arrived In MultiVersus As It Kicks Off Its First Halloween Event

The Gremlins have come to the fight in MultiVersus just in time for Halloween in the multi-franchise brawler’s latest open beta update. Players can now unlock the main characters from the cult classic 80s film which include the mischievous Stripe, who steps into game as its newest assassin, and the kind-hearted Gizmo who takes on a role in the brawler.

“Not everyone follows the Mogwai rules… and that’s when you get gremlins. Stripe is one of history’s most infamous “turned” Mogwai, having been the ringleader of the “Kingston Falls Christmas Terror” in 1984. Plucked from the timeline shortly before his defeat at the hands of his “father” Gizmo; this harbinger of chaos, lover of destruction, and maker of mayhem should fit in quite nicely here… if he doesn’t blow himself up first.

When Gizmo heard that his malevolent off-spring Stripe had been pulled into the battle for the Multiverse, he followed immediately to stop him. Gizmo has always been a hero: Whether it was helping save Kingston Falls, averting the disaster at the Clamp Center, or any of the other adventures from his (surprisingly long) life, he has always been an unlikely protector of the innocent. With his box of tricks and mystical singing, he’s sure to throw a wrench in the works.”

In addition to the new playable characters, the update also kicks off the game’s first-ever Halloween event. Starting today, players will be able to earn candy currency for participating in matches which can then be used to buy Halloween-themed cosmetics such as a new player icon, emote sticker, and seasonal costumes for Jake and Reindog.

Other updates include an anti-infinite combo system, a longer dodge meter recharge time, and several character tweaks. The patch notes also teases an experimental new map for custom games coming soon.

Details can be found in the full patch notes on the MultiVersus official site.
