PlanetSide 2 Promises Sunderer Rework And More Meaningful Updates In 2024
Rogue Planet Games is looking to breathe new life into PlanetSide 2 with the coming of the new year as it reveals plans to rework and improve the MMOFPS’s core gameplay components. As such, players can expect less balance tweaks and small-scale updates as the team shifts their focus to larger and more impactful updates throughout the year.
“In 2024, we are planning to focus on updates that value more long-term positive progress as opposed to short term changes that are likely to have minimal long-term impact,” the studio explains. “Many core design elements have long suffered neglect, leaving little room for tweaks that would have an appreciable net positive result on the current state of the game. We intend to approach fixing the many problems PlanetSide 2 currently faces at a deeper, more meaningful, level.”
First on the list of neglected elements is the Sunderer, which will see major adjustments to its slots and certs to more versatile and adaptable to various situations on the battlefield.
“After evaluating the state of the sunderer as a whole, we decided that a more significant rework would dramatically improve the experience of configuring and using the Sunderer, making it overall a more interesting vehicle to pilot,” says the devs.
The team goes into further detail about their plans for the transport vehicle in this dev blog. The reworked Sunderer is also available for testing on the public test server until 8 p.m. PST on December 22 if you want to take it for a test drive.
