Go Big Game Hunting And Dodge Bullets In The New Red Dead Online Game Modes

If hunting down wild and dangerous animals is your idea of fun, then the latest Red Dead Online challenge activity should be right up your alley. Pit your big game hunting skills against other hunters in the new Wild Animal Kills Free Roam event. The bigger the animal, the higher the points. You might also want to keep an eye out for bears, wolves, and cougars unless you want to end up like Leo in The Revenant. If you’ve got the skills, you can also take down these prized predators for bonus points. The good news is that PvP is disabled during the event so you can focus on your target and not have to worry about other people “mistaking” you for a bear.

If that doesn’t quite hit the spot, then maybe hunting people down in the new Head for the Hills Showdown Mode will be more to your liking. The objective is simple, prevent the runner from reaching their safe house using any means necessary. “Stake out the high ground, hide in the shadows or stalk your enemies out in the open, but don’t let them get to safety.” Of course, you’ll also be taking your turn as a runner, so you’ll also have to be good at… well, running and dodging bullets.

Both events are live as of today with two more Showdowns, Public Enemy and Sport of Kings, planned for release in the next couple of weeks. In addition, Rockstar Games will also be giving new players a chance to earn bonus RDO Cash and Gold from certain missions in the “A Land of Opportunities” questline. Newbies will be given an additional RDO$50 for successfully completing the first mission Honor Among Thievs, an extra RDO$75 for Kill Them and Each and Every One, and 10 Gold Bars for finishing Destroyed by Grief.

There’s also a new Care Package available, new clothing choices in Wheeler, Rawson and Co, including a limited supply of Racoon Hats, Plaid Caps, and Shaffer Chaps, and the new How Dare You emote. Players who enable 2-Step Verification will also be rewarded with an exclusive Racoon Hat tint, 10 Gold Bars, and $500,000 in GTA Online.
