Star Wars The Old Republic Sends Players Back To Ord Mantell In Chains In The Dark Update
Broadsword Online Games has unveiled Star Wars The Old Republic’s next major update and the first one since the studio took over development responsibilities for the Star Wars MMORPG earlier this year. Version 7.4: Chains in the Dark will pick up where the narrative left off in Version 7.2: Showdown on Ruhnuk and will send players off to Kessan’s Landing on Ord Mantell.
“Kessan’s Landing is a new landing zone on Ord Mantell,” the studio revealed. “Players will find that they can complete repeatable missions, and obtain new Achievements and Reputation rewards. There will also be a chain of side missions that will take players all over the galaxy, allowing them to assemble a piece of tech that will be very useful on Kessan’s Landing.”
Players can expect the return of several old characters as well as a new one, in addition to the new FR3-D0M world boss. Other notable features of the update include power ceiling boosts for several armor pieces and legendary implants, new dyes, new specularity tech for armor, and a new character lighting tool for in-game cinematics that should also improve the look of older content.
Chains in the Dark will also introduce the promised auction hall revamp which will completely rebuild the Galactic Trade Network to make it more accessible to players with a new advanced search feature and a more -friendly and streamlined process for selling and claiming items.
Broadsword has yet to announce a launch window for Chains in the Dark, but since it will also kick off Life Day, it will likely arrive sometime around the holidays. The update is also expected to go live on the public test server in the next few days.
