The Division 2 Is Revamping Its PvE And PvP Gameplay With Project Resolve

Ubisoft is making big changes to The Division 2 with Project Resolve, which aims to improve the overall player experience and lay the groundwork for future content releases. The update’s title presumably pertains to the team’s resolve, but it could also mean mass fixes for all of the issues plaguing the post-apocalyptic shooter, probably both.

Regardless, the update will tweak, change, and improve virtually every aspect of the game. For PvE, that includes targeted adjustments to all global events as well as sweeping changes to the completion requirements for seasonal, weekly, and daily Projects. The update will also tweak the Expertise costs for upgrades and introduce a whole host of quality-of-life features and improvements.

PvP content and mechanics is also being fine-tuned to offer a more balanced experience for both casual and hardcore players.

Those participating in the Conflict PvP mode will have all of their Expertise and SHD Watch bonuses and will only be allowed to change their loadouts and gear pieces once per respawn. Spawn points will also be updated with turrets to prevent spawn camping. The good news is that reward caches will contain more and higher quality rewards once Project Resolve arrives.

Status effects will also see their potency reduced and will have diminishing returns added in PvP. Counterplays for each status effect will also be added to give players various options to cancel them out or at least reduce their impact.

The Dark Zone will also receive its fair share of updates to create “a more distinct contrast between invaded and uninvaded Dark Zones.” The goal of the changes is to make the most challenging PvP activity in the game more accessible to a wider variety of players while also giving hardcore players a dedicated space to put their skills to the test. Like in Conflict, the team will also be adding turrets to spawn points in the Dark Zone and limiting loadout switching to once per spawn.

Public testing for Project Resolve will be divided into two phases, the first of which will run from December 15-18, followed by phase two from January 19-22. If everything goes according to plan, players can expect the update to go live alongside the start of Year 6 Season 3 on February 6 with more balance es, improvements, and better cheat detection coming in future updates.
