The company was founded in 2000 by Bang Jun-hyuk who now serves as the company’s Senior Advisor and was initially known as Netmarble before merging with CJ Games Corp. in 2014. The company is now known as Netmarble Games Corp. and employs more than 2,500 employees spread across numerous studios around the world including China, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, and Turkey, along with their recently established studio in the United States. The company also holds shares with prominent companies such as Tencent Holdings, one of the largest internet companies in Asia, and NCsoft, a widely-popular MMO company. The company priced its IPO in April, 2017 and officially debuted on the Korean stock market in May, 2017. It raised $2.3 Billion USD in its IPO and became the largest game company in South Korea.
