Dual Universe Upgrades Their Biomes, Launches First Bot Test Server

Dual Universe released a developer diary video the other day, showing off what the team has been working on in the developing sci-fi sandbox universe. The game is still in pre-alpha so many of its elements, such as the UI, are placeholders.

The video—that you can watch below—introduces the frigid polar biome, and shows off an upgraded desert biome, with plenty of rocky terrain.

The implemented physics is pretty neat to see in motion: engines exert actual force, so you have to balance your ship for equilibrium to get it off the ground. Positioning is key.

Hundreds of bots are now roaming stupidly in Dual Universe's first test server. That means the developers can push their servers to the limit, to the point when they catch fire.

You can see all the progress in the video below. Dual Universe's first alpha is scheduled to happen sometime in 2017, and most players wont experience the game until at least 2018. I'll be patient.
