Blade & Soul NEO Expands to Steam This Week on June 4
Blade & Soul NEO, the reimagined classic version of NCSoft's martial arts MMORPG, launches on Steam on June 4. Originally released exclusively on PURPLE in February, this version of the game aims to modernize the 2012 Korean fantasy title with enhanced visuals and streamlined mechanics. It's not quite a classic server, but is classic-like.
For context, Blade & Soul gained a cult following for its flashy combat system inspired by wuxia films, anime-style character designs, and player-versus-player arenas. The NEO overhaul targets lapsed fans and newcomers by condensing early-game progression and improving performance.
The Steam version includes all post-launch content added since February:
- The Moonwater Plains Part 1 zone expansion
- Moonwater Plains Part 2 questlines and dungeons
- Moonwater Plains Part 3 endgame activities
NCSoft, the developer behind long-running franchises like Lineage, initially tested the remaster on its niche PURPLE launcher. While Steam's audience dwarfs that platform, the game faces stiff competition from existing MMORPG heavyweights.
