Dual Universe's Character Customization And Progression Detailed
In Dual Universe developer Novaquark detailed character customization and progression. For the time being, players can only change their name, gender, and the color of various parts of their outfit, but it is noted that this is just a Pre-Alpha version of character creation and that more features will be introduced in the future.
Players will be able to advance in three ways: equipment, "character skills," and "player skills." There will be three types of equipment upgrades: "outfit upgrades," which include armor, jetpacks, and other wearables; "Nanoformer upgrades," which will improve your character's energy regeneration rate or the range of your scanner; and "tool upgrades," which will provide you with better weapons, scanners, and mining tools.
Character skills include skills that improve your character's abilities or unlock "certain game mechanics." The skill system is much like that of EVE Online. Players can experience classless progression through a skill tree with skills each having their own prerequisites. Skills are trained in real-time, even if the player is offline, and can be leveled up to at least level 5.
The "player skills" category, on the other hand, refers to your own understanding of the game's mechanics. According to Novaquark, "there is one very important aspect of the game; the idea that you, as a player, will be able to develop real skills related to the particular game mechanics you like and you specialize into."
