PlanetSide 2 Scraps Two New Implants On The PTS And Kicks Off Its Annual Summer Event
Rogue Planet Games continues to tweak and fine-tune PlanetSide 2’s new perk-granting implants along with other features in its latest public test server build. Of significant note is the removal of the Outmaneuver and Rally Mechanic implants because the developers felt that they were redundant.
“We liked the idea of incentivizing vehicle interactions, but further rewarding players for doing the things they should already be doing was perhaps misguided,” they explained. “That said we now have these mechanics at our disposal (reacting to directional vehicle damage, reacting to players exiting vehicles) so that they can potentially be used by designers for other abilities or objectives.”
The team also rolled out fixes and adjustments to targeting lasers, added warning text to warn players of an incoming Glaive and Flail artillery strikes, and updated Glaives so that they stop firing after each volley.
Meanwhile on the live servers, Rogue Planet brought out its massive water guns once again with the return of the Tides of Summer event. This year’s summer festivities will run until August 31st and features the usual array of event-specific directives with new vehicle cosmetics up for grabs.
