Sega Announces Free to Play Yakuza Online For PC & Mobile
Sega has just announced a new line of Yakuza games. The first title in the new series will be Yakuza Online and it will launch on both PC and mobile platforms as a free to play game sometime in 2018.
Sega is already surveying Western audiences to see if we'd be interested in the title. The survey also gauges interest in two other titles: a Yakuza 2 remake, and an action-adventure game based on Fist of the North Star. If you're interested in any of these games don't forget to fill out the survey.
Yakuza Online is set after the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and follows a new protagonist named Ichiban Kasuga. Just released from prison after serving 17 years, Kasuga heads to the streets of Kamurochi, Tokyo to try and take control of the city away from the Omi Alliance.
Little is known about the game thus far, but an official Japanese site is up and running. The site includes a 13 minute video describing the lore of the game (in Japanese) which we've included below. Yakuza Online will be available on PC, Android, and iOS. Its not yet clear whether Yakuza Online will be cross-platform, but my bet is that it will be.
