Ship Of Heroes Will Allow Players To Fly, Speedrun, And Teleport Right Off The Bat

City of Heroes, Apotheosis City’s heroes will have access to their travel powers right out of the character creator screen, as revealed in Heroic Games’ latest dev blog.

“In Ship of Heroes, you can fly right from the start. Flying is tons of fun, yet very few modern MMORPGs have it. Better yet, flight is only one of three fast-travel powers,” the studio said. “Travel powers are not generally a topic that MMOs like to talk much about. They don’t change your DPS, and they very rarely explode. However, we feel that travel powers are a huge help and a lot of fun, so we’ve made some significant upgrades to both superspeed and flight.”

In case you’re wondering, the three travel powers are: Flying (obviously), Superspeed, and Teleportation. Flying and Superspeed, in particular, will be tied to character progression and will see slight speed boosts as characters level up. They’ve also recently received visual upgrades including the addition of fire, ice, darkness, and dust trails for Superspeed.

Ship of Heroes is expected to launch by the end of the year, although we’re still waiting on the official announcement from Heroic Games. In the meantime, you can learn more about travel powers on the Ship of Heroes official site and the new developer video below.
