Tiger Knight: Empire War To Launch On Early Access Tomorrow
Oasis Games, which is likely best known for Naruto Online at present, announced on Friday that their latest endeavor, Tiger Knight: Empire War, is set to launch on Steam Early Access tomorrow. Developed by NetDragon and never commercially released in any way before now, Tiger Knight: Empire War is an online PvP game in which players "[reenact] large-scale wars in ancient China."
Tiger Knight features three modes. Command Mode lets players take control of an adjutant, which they control directly, and 40 soldiers, which are controlled indirectly through various orders, as they duke it out in upwards of 200v200 combat in one of two "sub-modes": Conquest and Siege. Duel Mode foregoes the soldiers in favor of 16v16 PvP combat between adjutants. Epic War is a cooperative PvE mode that lets players "fight realistic simulations of famous battles from the Three Kingdom Period" against AI.
Combat looks as if it were heavily inspired by Dynasty Warriors with a bit of Mount and Blade thrown in for good measure. It seems slower and more tactical than Dynasty Warriors, but not quite as involved as Mount and Blade. Players can fight both on foot and on horseback.
Tiger Knight: Empire War will be free-to-play from the moment it hits Early Access tomorrow. Oasis expects that Early Access will only last a month or two as they rebalance and rework various bits of content. As Oasis' first client-based PC title, I imagine there will be a few bumps in the road to release, but here's hoping it goes fairly well.
When Tiger Knight: Empire War goes live tomorrow, you will be able to it from the Steam store page.
