Broadsword Is Eyeing A 2022 Release For Ultima Online: New Legacy

It’s been Ultima Online: New Legacy, a new seasonal shard that offers a fresh start and an all-new experience to veterans and new players alike. Since then, the team has been dropping bits and pieces of information in the monthly newsletter as the team continually adds new content to the new shard but have yet to announce an exact launch date… until today.

In this month’s newsletter, Broadsword confirms that they’re putting the final touches on New Legacy and are looking to release the new shard in 2022. The team is currently working on polishing the core systems and tools needed in preparation for launch.

“Our primary focus this year is to deliver Ultima Online to the broadest audience ever with the release of UO: New Legacy. UO:NL will give those who have yet to experience the magic of Ultima Online a chance at a fresh start on a shard designed to capture the essence of UO as both an RPG and MMO, giving them their own opportunity to write their own legacy and be part of this amazing community!”

New Legacy will feature a new ruleset with simplified mechanics and systems aimed at modern gamers with the goal of enticing them to create characters on one of the core servers. Stay tuned for developer livestream over the next coming weeks where the team will be sharing their progress on the new shard.
