Why I Don’t Exploit Glitches For Quick Loot In The Division
Since Ubisoft released the Falcon Lost Incursion for The Division players have been assembling teams to take back the water treatment facility from Last Man Battalion control. Easier said than done. Because of the difficulty level many agents have been exploiting glitches in the Incursion that allow them to skip the entire mission and gain access to powerful end game loot. I have not and will not beat Falcon Lost in this way. Here’s why.
As a kid playing the Devil May Cry series the boss fights were insanely difficult for me. I would get stuck on a boss fight for hours at a time; sometimes it would take me a week to get past one. And I was okay with that. Now you may be thinking, “I beat all those bosses within a few tries bro. You suck.” This is true, Devil May Cry was never my strongest game but that isn’t the point. I loved the challenge. Having to put the controller down to revamp your strategy is a lost art in gaming.
The instant gratification that American’s have become known for has leaked into gamers’ mentality. So exploiting glitches becomes necessary to satiate the need for new loot now.
In the early days of Destiny using “loot caves” became the norm to avoid hours of tedious grinding. Weird thing is I was one of those players. Now you’re wondering, “how is this hypocrite going to use loot caves in Destiny, then bash Division players for using similar exploits?” Cheating to get loot in Destiny never affected other players’ PVP experience. In the crucible level differences were disabled, allowing for a balanced PVP experience regardless of the gear you used.
In the Dark Zone, The Division’s PVP realm, level differences are not disabled. The players with the highest level and the best gear are the most powerful. If you cheated to get end game loot than you are directly hurting the experience of other players in the Dark Zone.
The whole point of PVP is to pit player vs player on the basis of best-skill-plus-best-gear wins. Higher level gear is supposed to give you an advantage over a lower level player. But you have to use your skills as a player to beat the hardest missions to acquire the end game loot that will give you an advantage in the Dark Zone. If you cheated to get end game gear then PVP isn’t about testing skill anymore, it’s about exploiting any loophole to gain an advantage.
Ask yourself, why do you play The Divison? Do you like the challenge and satisfaction of beating Falcon Lost without cheating, and competing in the Dark Zone in an even fight? Or do you like exploiting advantages, and punking other players in the Dark Zone? Let the discussion begin.
